The Pursuit of Perfection
A distinguished open "Phaeton" automobile by the coach builder Le Baron, officially titled "A Convertible SEDAN PHAETON"
An original "New Designs for 1936" sales catalogue accompanies this stately and gorgeous fully restored V-12 powered Lincoln.
All engine components were balanced for smooth and quiet performance. "Five passengers ride in the utmost comfort"
Only fifteen of these motorcars were built. To my knowledge this is the only one in existence in 1998.
Upholstery is of the finest top-grain leather, dark blue, selected for beauty and wearing qualities.
Luggage compartment is in the rear deck and a handsome trunk rack.
This automobile has been restored with new wood throughout.
Each component has been brought to new specifications, for instance the leaf springs were disassembled, sand blasted, cleaned, reprimed, and painted. Interleave grease was applied and the springs reassembled.
The springs were individually wrapped with canvas. The spring covers were stripped, primed and repainted. They were then reassembled and the entire spring assembly was then overpainted before reinstallation.
This kind of meticulous detail and care was used throughout reconstruction.
This car was purchased on August 1st, 1977 from J.R.Hunted, M.D. essentially in boxes. He had spent nearly 10 years in disassembly, clean up and labeling each part, nut and bolt.
This 'Car of the Presidents" is offered for sale complete with all extra parts and literature for $136,000.
